Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Director Gore Verbinski and the crew set sail once again for this, the third chapter in the swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is hopelessly trapped in Davy Jones' Locker after a harrowing encounter with the dreaded Kracken, and now Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swan (Keira Knightley) must align themselves with the nefarious Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) if they hold out any hope of saving their old friend from a fate worse than death. The East India Trading Company and it's fearsome leader Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander) have taken control of the ghostly Flying Dutchman and it's Captain Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), and now the baleful Admiral Norrington (Jack Davenport) has taken the helm in a relentless bid to destroy every pirate ship in his path and bring the Age of Piracy to a violent close. Meanwhile, Will, Elizabeth, and Captain Barbossa navigate treacherous waters and face bitter betrayal as they set sail to gather the only army that can stand up to Beckett - The Nine Lords of the Brethren Court. But Captain Jack Sparrow is one of the Lords, and as long as he's stuck in Davy Jones' locker Beckett and his nefarious armada are sure to emerge victorious. There's still hope, however, if the heroic team that includes Tia Dalma (Naome Harris), Pintel (Lee Arenberg, and Ragetti (Mackenzie Crook) can reach exotic Singapore and convince vulpine Chinese pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat) to provide them with charts and a ship. But even the powerful Brethren Court may need a bit of help from volatile sea goddess Calypso in order to weather the coming storm. With the entire future of the pirate way at stake, everyone will be forced to choose sides while drifting precariously to the edge of the Earth for one final, spectacular battle.

Deep Sea 3D

The beauty and mystery of life beneath the surface of the ocean is brought to the screen in this documentary, shot in 3-D and exhibited in the high-definition IMAX film format. Shot in the ocean depths off the coasts of Baja, the Caribbean, and North Carolina, Deep Sea depicts the complexity of the underwater ecosystem, as some sea creatures live in cooperation while others feed upon weaker species to survive. Filmmaker Howard Hall also focuses on the splendor of this world rarely seen by human eyes, photographing a number of rare species of fish, squids, manta rays, jellyfish, and other aquatic creatures, as well as offering a perspective on the environmental dangers that threaten the underwater community. Flicka

A young woman pins her hopes and dreams on a maverick horse in this drama based on the classic novel by Mary O'Hara. Last Rites

I started to watch this and immediately recognized it as a low budget movie. I immediately thought that it was going to stink - about as bad as "The Dukes: ... Beginning". But I stayed with it - you have to give the movie a chance. I did and man was I surprised.

Another commenter wrote: "Unlike most low budget films, they didn't use the pretty boy look. All characters in the film are very charismatic and look the part, not to mention they are very good actors."

At first I liked the writing. I thought it to be authentic and unforced. Then I noticed the lead cop was a really good actor. Then I noticed they are all really good actors. Then I noticed: black, white, Hispanic, and Asian... and then it hit me = no character was a stereotype! They were real people - so cool.

There was a scene where it went a little slow, but other than that short interval I found this to be a real thriller. I am a fan of scifi's and watch horror only when there is nothing else on. This one was a treat! The writing, the directing, the editing, the photography, ... the acting! If you like horror I think you'll really like this one - I know I did.

Major kudos to the entire caste!

I am going to look forward to seeing anything by this new director - Duane Stinnett.

Lonely Hearts

Todd Robinson's Lonely Hearts features John Travolta and James Gandolfini as Elmer C. Robinson and Charles Hildebrandt, a pair of homicide detectives who are on the trail of lovers on a crime spree. The evil duo of Ray Fernandez (Jared Leto) and Martha Beck (Salma Hayek) take advantage of elderly widows, stealing as much money as they can after gaining the victim's confidence, and then murdering their mark. Robinson becomes drawn into the case too deeply in order to help him confront his feelings, as his wife has recently killed herself. The story is based on the real life "Lonely Hearts" killers of the late '40s, the infamous couple who the director's grandfather played a large part in bringing to justice.

Dreamland

A young couple traveling a lonely stretch of Las Vegas highway discover that they're not alone on the road in director James Lay's dark sci-fi thriller. Soon Guy's soul is miraculously replaced by the dead girl's, who then breathes life into the dolls in a fit of revenge that will soon claim the lives of the boy's tormentors as well as threaten the life of his sister and her friends, who just so happen to be having a sleepover at their house the night of the massacre.

Shrek the Third

The Break-Up

A once-loving couple whose happily-ever-after quickly turned into a never-again finds their crumbling romance complicated when both parties refuse to move out of the pair's recently purchased condo. The Break-Up is a romantic comedy that starts where all the others end. The future once looked promising for thirtysomething couple Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn), but lately it seems like a series of increasingly petty and intolerable squabbles have snuffed any semblance of romance in their relationship.
